Yuna Lee

Film Composer, Musical Director and Pianist

Yuna Lee is a composer, arranger, musical director, conductor, and pianist for film, games, concerts, and theater. She was born in Seoul, South Korea.

She attended Howon University in Korea and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in applied music performance. Since she entered the university, she had worked in the K-pop music industry, Musical theater, and games in Korea. she had been an instructor of Musical Theatre at Seokyeong University before she moved to the U.S.A.

She was the Music Director of in Korean version of the musical “The Wedding Singer” which was nominated for the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical. She was also the Associate Music director and conductor of Disney’s “Newsies": The Broadway Musical and the award-winning Broadway musical “In the Heights” (Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album and winner of 4 Tony Awards) in Korea and Japan. Yuna worked as an assistant Music director and pit musician for “Next to Normal” which won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Carmen, Bare: The Musical, Dracula, and Billy Elliot. When she worked in musical theatre in Korea, she worked with the creative team of the musicals on Broadway.

As an arranger, her projects have included National Liberation Day Celebrations with the Korean government (2017), the albums SOUL COOKE (2015) and Single Project (2015) of Brown Eyed Soul who won the R&B award at the Korean Music Awards, and KBS Television music program “Immortal Song 2: Singing the Legend” (2012). She was also the composer for Sound FA, a Korean online game company (2012-2015).

In 2018, She moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music to study Jazz composition. After going to college, she won the Quincy Jones Award at Berklee. She worked as a professional composer, and pianist in the K-Pop industry. She also performed for Les Miserables: The French Musical Cast Concert (2021) with the Artel philharmonic orchestra in Korea. Furthermore, She had an opportunity to have recording sessions with Budapest Art Orchestra and Air Studios London. Her works Included Aliyah Danielle's Album, Alberto Iglesias Tribute Concert, Composition X with Dallas Art Museum, and others.

In 2022, She graduated from Berklee College of Music with 4years professional diploma in Jazz Composition and from Berklee Valencia with a Master of Music in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games. In 2023, She has received many awards, including The 46th Downbeat Music Award for Large Ensemble as a composer and Career Jam Award.

Currently, She is living in Los Angeles, working as a composer for film, Musical Theater, and the leader of Yuna Lee Jazz Orchestra.
